If your message for marketing is all about you and/or what you do, you're in trouble! Your message should be about what your targeted audience wants. Your Company's message should be aimed at how the company meets your prospective clients' wants and needs.
For example, if you are selling t-shirts, make sure your audience knows that your t-shirts are made of high-quality fabric, are extremely durable, or meet the latest fashion fads (don't lie if they aren't)!
People do not want to hear from companies that "toot their own horn", they want companies to tell them how their product or service is going to make their lives better, and why. Just remember, focus your promotional efforts primarily on the customer, not on yourself.
